GP 2010 Feature #7: Microsoft Office Word Template Configuration and Maintenance

Some of these customizations may be something as small as changing the company logo on the document, but all changes, big or small, require users to create a modified Report Writer report within Microsoft Dynamics GP.In Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010, users are now able to make these types of modifications without creating a modified Report Writer report using instead the familiar Microsoft Office Word application! For example, if you need to change the company logo, you can just assign that picture to the company within GP 2010 without having to deal with Report Writer.
Template Configuration Manager within Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010:
• Contains 22 ready to use word templates available upon installation by default
• Has more flexibility to perform actions with a rendered document: Email, Save as PDF/XPS, Publish to SharePoint, etc.
• Enables customers to send more professional looking documents to their customers and vendors
• Utilizes the same print process flow so there is nothing new for end users to learn. Only change is the selection of report type- standard or template.
• Utilizes same security model as Report Writer reports so there is no new security layer to setup
Template Maintenance within Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 also allows you to:
• Assign Microsoft Office Word templates to a Report Writer report
• Assign templates to specific companies, customers, or vendors
• Integrate with Microsoft Office Word to customize or create templates
• Create new templates or copy existing templates
• Assign a template that ships with Dynamics GP 2010 to their existing modified reports
