Customer and Sales Transaction Integration from a Proprietary Insurance Database
This project involved deriving information from an initial proprietary database to which we had no access. The insurance company maintained control over the database and created a view for which we had read access. Each transaction had the life span of up to one (1) year, so we created a staging database to hold the customer information, original transaction, and any changes to the original transaction. The staging database gave us the read/write access that we needed.
The client activated Parent Customer functionality in Dynamics GP, thereby enabling us to track information by agent (the parent record), by annual insurance transaction (the child record), and separate addresses (the end customer for our client). The view and staging database are updated nightly.
Extensive custom reporting was designed in SQL Server Reporting Services, deriving information from both the staging database and Dynamics GP.
This project was implemented in a hosted Dynamics GP environment and currently utilizes 2 user licenses. Implementation and development costs were $30,000. We replaced a QuickBooks Enterprise system with manual transaction duplication between the insurance software and QuickBooks.
